Workshop
Description: This hands on workshop is designed to sharpen your diagnostic and psychomotor skills in 3 procedures common to newborn pediatric practice: assessing infant hips for dysplasia, assessing tongues for ankloglossia and evaluating foreskins to determine whether a circumcision is permissible. Participants can rotate among three stations and choose which skill is most relevant to their practice. Under the guidance of peers and coaches, we will use normal and abnormal models that you can examine to improve your ability to recognize pathology. If desired, participants can perform frenotomy or circumcision on our models. The goal is to increase your confidence and skill to use in practice and teaching. Curricular and instructional materials will be distributed for each skill so that you can bring what you learn here to your home institution.
