Workshop
Description: During this workshop, participants will receive a toolkit for incorporating a pediatric approach to trauma, treatment, and resilience training for trainees. This training encompasses various teaching strategies, including case-based didactics, standardized patient encounters, and a communication skills assessment tool. It can be delivered either in-person or virtually, with a mental/behavioral health provider as a co-facilitator. The workshop is designed for faculty members and medical educators. The session will commence with a large group discussion and reflection on the benefits of educating and training about childhood adversity, trauma, and resilience-informed care. Attendees will then engage in selected training toolkit activities in small groups. Tabletop simulation will be utilized in a practice patient encounter session. Faculty development will involve the use of a standardized communication skills assessment tool for trauma-informed care. The workshop will conclude with dedicated time for participants to identify their next steps in implementing training activities, through small group roundtable discussions, followed by a closing large group Q&A session.
