Session
Description: Given the current mental health crisis in the United States and the understanding that children and adolescents with obesity are at higher risk of numerous mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, it is critical to integrate mental health screening into pediatric obesity care. In addition, many evidence-based approaches to treating pediatric obesity incorporate behavioral health strategies and/or are delivered by practitioners with behavioral health training. This workshop will present best practices from three different Healthy Lifestyle Programs across the country. Presenters will discuss approaches to screening for behavioral health conditions and how they have integrated behavioral health practitioners into their programs. There will be plenty of time for discussion and Q&A so that all participants can brainstorm on ways to integrate behavioral health into their own home programs.
