Session

Description: In the wake of the opioid crisis, we will review the latest up to date approach to non-opioid pain management highlighting acupuncture, interventional techniques and regional anesthesia, and different types of pharmacotherapy. Can we use this concept as the new standard? The session will begin with a short overview of the opioid crisis and why parents and providers are looking for alternatives, followed by presentations about each of the innovative modalities. A question and answer session will follow at the end of the session.

Learning Objectives:

  • Increase awareness about non-opioid modalities in pediatrics
  • Highlight the integration of these modalities in pediatric pain management
  • Facilitate discussion of the indications to use these modalities
