Session
Description: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first reported in December 2019 and rapidly spread worldwide. At the beginning of the epidemic, COVID-19 cases were mainly among adults and the elderly, but the distribution of COVID-19 vaccine to adults and the emergence of highly infectious variant of concerns led to increase in pediatric cases. As information on COVID-19 gradually increased, the epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19, such as the number of patients and mortality rates, differed among countries and regions. In addition, responses to COVID-19 in children including infection control measures, school closure, and COVID-19 vaccination policy varied from country to country,.
This symposium was designed to compare the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in children and the responses in each country, and to contribute to future responses to COVID-19 and new emerging infectious disease control measures. Each speaker will describe the epidemiology and clinical characteristics, the current status of the COVID-19 vaccine, and the response to pediatric COVID-19 in each country.
