Session

Description: The course will cover basic, translational, and clinical science as it relates to pediatric critical care nephrology. The course is designed to deliver an overview of current research advances and clinical practice strategies in pediatric critical care nephrology, including AKI pathophysiology, fluid balance, utilization of biomarkers, and future therapeutic targets. The second half of the course will focus on pediatric continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) basics followed by in deep dives into complex case based CRRT management scenarios. The speakers will aim to help foster ideas for future research, quality improvement projects, and improved care.

Cost: $175 (includes box lunch)

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will understand the pathophysiology, risk factors and outcomes associated with pediatric AKI.
  • Uon completion, participants will better understand the impact of fluid balance on outcomes, indication for kidney support therapy, and the delivery of kidney support therapy.
  • Upon completion, learners will better understand novel biomarkers of AKI, pediatric critical care nephrology (AKI, fluid balance), fundamentals of CRRT, and challenging cases in CRRT.
