UTHealth Houston/McGovern Medical School's mission is three-fold: to provide the highest quality and cost-efficient medical care to infants, children, and adolescents entrusted to us; to advance the knowledge in biomedical, clinical, and behavioral science through our research programs; and to provide excellence and innovation in the training of the next generation of pediatricians and sub-specialists through our medical student, residency and fellowship programs. Located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, McGovern Medical School was established in 1969 to utilize untapped resources and address a nationwide shortage of physicians. Over the past five decades, McGovern Medical School has moved to the forefront of medical education, clinical care, and research, growing to the ninth largest medical school in the nation.
