Benjamin Araya, DO is a second-year neonatal-perinatal medicine fellow at Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a husband and a proud father of five children who have been dragged across the country for his education and training. He completed medical school at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis and his pediatric residency on the US-Mexico border at Texas Tech University in El Paso. He is motivated to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable pediatric patients – preterm neonates. He currently works with his mentor, Dr. Jeffrey Segar, studying the effects of sodium depletion and diuretic use on various mice models in order to address common problems that plaque NICUs around the world. In addition to honing research skills with Dr Segar and other mentors, he is eagerly learning to be a better doctor and person.
