Workshop
Description: Collaborating with research networks that have national reach can help both junior and senior investigators achieve goals of generalizability, and diversity, equity and inclusion. National research networks can also offer dedicated research coordination support, networking with colleagues across the country and opportunities for mentorship. The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) is home to three national research networks: 1) Better Outcomes through Research for Newborns (BORN) – focused on building the evidence-base for well newborn care, 2) Continuity Research Network (CORNET) – focused on conducting research to equitably improve health, healthcare delivery, and resident education in pediatric residency continuity practices and to engage residents in primary care research, and 3) Pediatric Research in Inpatient Settings (PRIS) – focused on the health of and healthcare delivery to hospitalized children and their families. In this workshop, leaders from BORN, CORNET, and PRIS will share insights into the process for developing studies that connect institutions across the country to enhance the diversity of the study population. Attendees will have the opportunity to propose their own collaborative research studies - within one network and/or involving cross-network partnerships. This workshop is designed for clinicians and researchers at all career levels who wish to expand the reach of their ongoing work through idea generation on network-engaged research focused on populations who are disproportionately impacted by health inequities.
