Session

Description: As more and more institutions and trainee groups unionize, it begs the question of what goals, aspirations, and outcome these groups are seeking in the world of medicine. There are many benefits and possible harm to patient populations. Participants in this debate will discuss benefits and drawbacks of unionization with use of existing examples (i.e. trainee unions, internal medicine unions).

Learning Objectives:

Grasp the concept of unionization and its relevance in the field of pediatrics with description of key terms, various stakeholders, and policy impact.
Analyze and evaluate the pros and cons of unionization in pediatrics from multiple evidence-based perspectives.
Explore the ethical dimensions of unionization in pediatrics, including issues related to patient care, physician autonomy, and the balance between labor rights and healthcare delivery.
