Session
Description: The role of food in health outcomes is increasingly evident, and stakeholders from government to private sector are creating innovative solutions. Healthcare professionals are poised to lead evidence-based integration of Food is Medicine strategies. During the Nutrition & Food Is Medicine SIG, we will explore the educational, clinical practice, and research applications of the Food is Medicine (FiM) movement with clear intersection and applicability to community health and equity promotion. Faculty, trainees, and other health professionals must collaborate to understand the potential areas for application within health systems and to train the next generation to address the unique challenges of diet related disease. SIG Co-Chairs Jaclyn Albin, MD, CCMS, Dip ABLIM and Kathleen Head, MD, MS, MPH will contextualize FiM as it applies to pediatrics, and special guest Julia MacLaren, RD will speak about the power of leveraging interprofessional partnerships.
