Session
Description: The upcoming changes to the ACGME Pediatric Program Requirements for Resident Advocacy Training propel programs to evaluate their current training and look for opportunities to improve. The Advocacy Training SIG is a collaboration of faculty from both established and new Advocacy Training programs who share challenges, solutions, and resources. This year, we will focus on innovations in advocacy training to assist with planning for the new requirements. After discussing the upcoming requirements, faculty from around the country will share their successes and solutions. There will be ample time to network with speakers and colleagues via Q&A and a break-out session. The last 10 minutes will be devoted to SIG business and goals for the upcoming year.
There will be 3 presentations involving multi-institutional collaboratives: Residency Advocacy Coalitions–Making a Louder Voice, Using an Advocacy Portfolio to Link to Specific Learning Objectives, and Healing Morning Report: A Multi-Institutional Monthly Case Presentation Focusing on Social Determinants of Health. The 3 additional presentations will be on Starting an Advocacy Program, Creating Meaningful Service-Based Learning and Training International Medical Graduates–Community Linkages, and Learning the Basics of Advocacy and Community-Based Organizations in the US.
