Session
Description: The current pediatric workforce does not mirror our patient population in diversity and there is ample evidence that this results in suboptimal care. There are concerns and barriers to building and sustaining pathways for URIM in pediatric practice and research. This panel will discuss:
The evidence of the benefits of a diverse workforce.
Current best practices to recruit and retain a diverse workforce from residency and beyond.
Best practices in medical education of pediatricians to equip them to provide care to patients in under-served communities
How to train pediatricians who are not URIM to treat patients from underserved communities.
