Session
Description: Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) are an important cause of morbidity in children. Pediatric patients with congenital obstructive uropathies and renal dysplasia with associated bladder dysfunction are particularly at risk for recurrent UTIs, acute obstruction, and subsequent progressive chronic kidney disease (CKD) and eventual end stage kidney disease (ESKD). The overall goal of this session is to provide an overview of existing and novel strategies for preventing and managing recurrent UTIs, immune defenses against UTIs, evaluation of bladder function pre and post kidney transplantation, and issues and considerations around transition of children with CKD and obstructive uropathies to adult providers.
