Session
Description: In the United States, there is a perception that healthcare for Canadian citizens is more inclusive and features fewer barriers to access. However, for many patients, especially gender and sexual diverse individuals, that may not be the case. In fact one recent study found that transgender residents of Ontario "...experience[d] inequalities in perception and reported experiences of health care access, with 43.9% reporting a past-year unmet health care need." During this session, we will hear from patients and professionals, to explore similarities and differences of gender-affirming care for gender diverse youth in the United States and Canada, including healthcare professional comfort and knowledge of care, access to care, experiences with care, and societal and political acceptance.
