Session
Description: This State-of-the-Art Plenary opens with the pediatric results from a 20-year systematic review of value-based purchasing. It will then showcase three different approaches to aligning pediatric payments with desired maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes and state of the evidence-base supporting each approach. The first strategy is the community-oriented approach taken by Nationwide Children’s Hospital via its affiliated Medicaid Accountable Care Organization aka Partners for Kids program and its ability to reduce high-cost health care. The second approach involves understanding the cost-effectiveness of integrating community health workers into early childhood preventive care. The final example is the randomized controlled trial that was embedded into South Carolina’s rollout of an intensive nursing home visiting program for pregnant Medicaid beneficiaries.
