Description: This session will describe the challenges and opportunities that scholars in each of these pathways face when attempting to describe their scholarly work and when seeking academic recognition for their efforts. These challenges and opportunities will be highlighted from the lens of Individual Scholars, P&T Committee Members, Department Chairs, and Journal Editors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define professional identity.
  • Describe how educator/advocacy portfolios can showcase scholarly work, and identify opportunities to use similar methods to describe work in DEI.
  • Propose novel ways that promotion and tenure committees and department chairs could support work in Advocacy, DEI and Education in your own institution.
