Session
Description: The Health Literacy and Group Care SIGS have teamed up to put on what’s sure to be an eye-opening and engaging workshop for pediatricians from any sub-specialty. The group care model is a patient-centered approach that emphasizes interactive learning and community building. During the session, we will begin by introducing core group care and health literacy principles to the audience to provide background for the remainder of the session. We will discuss the role of health literacy universal precautions in conducting group care sessions, as well as the potential role of group care in promoting health literacy. Together, we’ll watch some recorded group care sessions, and identify health literacy principles that are actively used. We will brainstorm how physicians might transfer their skills and training in health literacy and group care to other care settings. This interactive session will use a combination of focused didactics and multimedia presentations, small group break-out sessions, and large group discussions to keep attendees engaged. Faculty and learners of all levels are welcome!
