Session
Description: Achieving High Practice Fidelity to Clinical Guidelines through Implementation Science
Implementation science offers a systematic way of improving adherence to evidence based guidelines in everyday clinical practice. In this session content experts will review useful implementation tools and frameworks, change management practices, and use of informatics to drive data driven actions in this work. Participants will start the session by brainstorming about how they would implement a new clinical practice guideline, and will be asked to update their thinking after the didactic talks. The session will end with a speaker panel during which participants can ask questions and discuss their own QI projects.
AGENDA:
SIG Chairs (5 min): Introduction & General overview
Group exercise (10 min): What steps would you take to implement the new AAP Obesity guideline in your clinical setting?
Amy Tyler (15 min): Implementation Methods and Frameworks
Francisco Alvarez (15 min): Change Management Strategies
John Chuo (15 min): Utilizing Informatics Tools to Drive Practice
Group exercise (10 min): Rethink your steps above and discuss what you would change after hearing the presentations
Panel Discussion (15 min): Speakers will answer questions from workshop participants about their work. This is also an opportunity for participants to ask questions about projects they are doing or would like to initiate at their institutions.
SIG chairs (5 min): Concluding remarks and future directions
