Session
Description: Neonatal Hemodynamics Club: The Hemodynamics of Neonatal Sepsis
Target Audience: Neonatologists and Neonatal trainees, cardiologists, pediatric intensivists and obstetricians involved in the care of the newborn. Topics this year are of special interest to general paediatricians involved in neonatal care, neurologists and translational and clinical researchers interested in developmental cardiovascular physiology and the role and assessment of transitional hemodynamics in cardiac function and other organ injury in term and preterm neonates.
Chairs: Patrick J. McNamara, M.D., University of Iowa, USA and Martin Kluckow, M.D., Royal North Shore Hospital and University of Sydney, Australia
The Neonatal Hemodynamics Club addresses clinically relevant topics in neonatal-perinatal medicine with a special focus on developmental cardiovascular physiology and neonatal hemodynamics. The topic for 2024 will explore the hemodynamic physiology and evidence for targeted therapy of Neonatal Sepsis/Septic shock Our first speaker will address advanced hemodynamic monitoring and the need for proper validation of used technologies and the current lack of this. Our second speaker will review the evidence for physiologically targeted therapies in sepsis/septic shock. We will discuss the possible next steps to understand what is optimal management in these high risk hemodynamic states.
There will be time set aside for audience questions and discussion to allow the audience to interact with our expert speakers.
