CHRISTUS Children's is San Antonio's first and only free-standing hospital devoted to children and new mothers. In partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, we offer a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of each child. Through our fetal care program, we provide care for babies before they are even born. CHRISTUS Children's includes a network of facilities with pediatric primary care clinics, multispecialty centers, rehabilitation clinics and freestanding emergency centers. We have a strategic plan to grow exponentially over the next few years, adding new locations and services. We are part of CHRISTUS Health, a Catholic faith-based organization whose mission is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. We have a rich history that began in 1869 when three nuns from France answered the call to establish an infirmary in San Antonio to aid a population ravaged by an outbreak of cholera and yellow fever. From these humble beginnings, CHRISTUS Health served 7 million people in 2023 in four countries: the U.S., Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Our nearly 50,000 Associates alongside 15,000 physicians embrace our core values that include dignity, integrity, compassion, excellence and stewardship. San Antonio is a vibrant community ranked the seventh largest city in the U.S. with 1.4 million residents. Bioscience and health care remains the city's top industry employing one in six adults while pumping $44 billion into the local economy in 2022. Our community is proud of its rich colonial heritage that includes the Alamo and four additional missions that comprise Texas' only UNESCO World Heritage Site. San Antonio is steeped in traditions that grew out of a rich diversity of cultures and families who established their roots here. Despite its size, many say San Antonio has a small town feel with a strong emphasis on family. San Antonio and CHRISTUS Children's can offer you a deep connection to our community and a place you'll be proud to call home.
